Halloween Edition

One monster.
Your friends.

The Classic rules, dressed for a very suspicious Halloween.

Choose your kind of spooky

Halloween Edition includes two sets of 32 words each:

  • Spooky fun: easier, familiar Halloween ideas. Start here with a mixed group or first-time players.
  • After dark: trickier words for a group that wants subtler connections and a tougher bluff.

The costumed characters and moonlit forest give the round its Halloween atmosphere. “After dark” describes the harder word set, not a different game or an adults-only mode.

Find the monster among you

  1. Gather 3–10 friends and share one phone.
  2. Peek at your private role. Most players see the same spooky word; the imposter doesn’t.
  3. Give one spoken clue each, without saying the word.
  4. Discuss the suspicious clues, then vote together or use private phone voting.

Catch the imposter to win. If your group picks an innocent player, the imposter wins instead. Optional category, hint, last-guess and timer settings work just as they do in Classic.

A first tie keeps roles hidden for one restricted revote. A second tie gives the imposter the win. Read the full Classic rules for the details.

A clue example

Secret word: “Pumpkin”

“Carving” is a strong connection. “Autumn” is broader. “Soup” could be an unexpectedly good clue. The best clues make sense without making the answer certain.

Set the scene

Play somewhere everyone can hear each other. Keep enough light to pass the phone safely and see the private role cards. Costumes are welcome, but a good poker face is more useful.

Let new players learn with Spooky fun before raising the difficulty. You can keep the same crew for another round, or switch to Draw & Bluff for a change of pace.
